Sunday, July 4th, 2021 (Day 2)

Miles:  265.7

Hours:  5.25

Playlist:

  1. Come from away
  2. Hamilton
  3. Dear Evan Hansen (deemed “fitting” by the DJ/Naavigator. I asked “why?  Because you’re suicidal?” … “No. Good Grief! “Anybody have a MAP?!” … “Oh. Right.”  At least I did a mental health check?  *shrug*

After a reasonably uneventful night’s sleep, we were up and out around 9:30 this morning. Two thumbs up for the good guys!  Through the forest, over the lake, through the neighborhood, and over the golf course …. It was a largely uneventful drive!

PSA 1:  Being able to attach it to your vehicle does not always mean your vehicle is capable of towing it. We passed the same Jeep pulling the same turquoise boat 3x this trip. I first noticed it yesterday at a rest stop (because it’s a really pretty blue color!) and twice earlier today on the side of the road. The second time, black smoke was billowing from the engine. Whoopsie. I hope that wasn’t a costly lesson for you!

PSA 2: Unmarked law enforcement cars will still pull you over!  The guy in the silver SUV was happily following me @ the speed limit for at least 20 miles. Got all brave and decided to zoom-zoom a little and BAM! Not 3 miles later we saw him get the fancy blue lights. Not a good day, sir.

After utilizing sub-par navigation, we found KOA #2 on the NY/PA border on the outskirts of town. Thought FOR SURE SURE that Trip Wizard had lost its mind, but turns out!, we avoided a 9’ bridge. So maybe this thing is worth the small levels of frustration after the all.

Tonight: instant pot pulled pork (Thanks for the test-run, BFF!) and marshmallows on the fire.

Tomorrow:  MAINE!

The boys are off to buy popsicles and find out when the sluice will run so they can pan for gold.  Too much Gold Rush during quarantine, I think.

Molly & I are hanging out under the trees…. & thank God she didn’t see the squirrel that just ran across the road in front of me!  I’d have lost my leg for sure.
